Extroverted Sensing (Se): “It’s the good girls who keep diaries. The bad girls never have the time. Me? I just wanna live a life I’m gonna remember, even if I don’t write it down.” Brooke leaps into everything she does, and (particularly earlier in the series) does not give much thought to how her decisions will impact herself and others down the road. She lives very much in the present without giving much thought to the consequences of her actions. She begins a sexual relationship with her teacher, makes a sex tape with her best friend’s ex-boyfriend (albeit, under the influence of alcohol), and uses her sexuality to convince a medical student to give her pain medication, which she takes more of than instructed. She takes Peyton to a college party, where Peyton is drugged and nearly raped, and Brooke comes to her rescue. While she is feeling down about Lucas, Brooke attempts to numb the pain by sleeping with Chris Keller. She knows how to get people to loosen up and enjoy living in the moment. She manages to get Lucas to have fun and get out of his head. On their first date, she takes him to a bar and he ends up getting a tattoo. Brooke has a deep appreciation for the finer things in life. She’s attracted to luxury and clings to her position as the popular cheerleader. Though she does a lot of maturing throughout the series, she does always retain a passion for beauty and extravagance. Brooke is interested in things that are tangible, whether that’s pursuing guys, shopping, or going to parties. She expresses herself through her clothing and is so interested in fashion that she launches her clothing empire as a high school student. “If you had a friend that you knew you’d never see again, what would you say? If you could do one last thing for someone you love, what would it be? Say it. Do it. Don’t wait. Nothing lasts forever.” This line encapsulates almost all of Brooke’s functions and really creates a clear picture of how her Se, Fi, and Te work together.
Introverted Feeling (Fi): Brooke begins the show as a stereotype. She’s rich, she’s a party girl, and she’s a cheerleader, but as the show progresses, Brooke’s desires to be loved and appreciated for the person she is, and not just what people see on the surface, becomes one of her defining traits. She begins to believe in herself, she grows, she “stops letting boys define her,” and sees her own potential and worth. Brooke feels intensely. She keeps a diary, which she uses to express the way her parents made her feel unloved. Oftentimes, her relatively strong Te allows her to bring her Fi ideals to life. She organizes a safe ride program in high school called DWNotI to prevent students from driving drunk. When she finds out that Felix spray-painted “DYKE” on Peyton’s locker, she immediately ends their relationship and gives him a piece of her mind. She launches her “0 Is Not A Size” campaign through her fashion line in order to help women feel comfortable in their own skin. She stands up for those who don’t have a voice and reaches out to people when she feels she can make a difference. Brooke is so deeply afraid of being hurt that she establishes strict Friends with Benefits, no strings attached policies in her relationships. When Peyton is criticizing Haley for leaving Nathan, Brooke defends her, saying “Maybe she just got scared of needing somebody too much.” Brooke writes 82 letters to Lucas over the summer, but doesn’t send them out of fear of getting her heart broken. During the school shooting, Brooke puts on a brave face, but slips out to cry alone and let herself feel. She is very much aware of her own emotions, but doesn’t always vocalize them until it becomes absolutely necessary.
Extroverted Thinking (Te): Brooke is enterprising and entrepreneurial, as previously noted in her establishment of DWnotI. She knows how to put people to work and organize individuals to achieve a common goal. After launching her Clothes Over Bros website, such an overwhelming number of orders were placed that she realizes she needs help creating enough clothing to send to her customers. She ran an entire workshop out of her apartment, delegating tasks (and becoming quite bossy and authoritarian in the process) in order to get the job done. She runs a successful campaign to become Student Body president and uses her new platform to create positive change at Tree Hill High. She organizes an entire Fantasy Boy Draft just to keep Lucas away from Rachel and to keep her cheerleading squad from imploding. Brooke tells it like it is and does not hold back. She knows how to put people in their place and does not mind hurting other people’s feelings with her brutal take downs.
Introverted Intuition (Ni): While Brooke doesn’t allow herself to worry too much about the future, she does get sporadic insights into it, which she usually uses to her advantage. Brooke can be extremely manipulative and, at times, knows exactly how certain actions will cause a domino effect. In the beginning of the show, she utilizers her bursts of intuition to mess with other people’s heads and gets them to do and say things that push them outside of their comfort zone. When she has to choose between leading her squad to victory at a cheerleading competition or presenting her designs at Rogue Vogue in New York, she chooses the competition. When Haley asks her about it, Brooke says, “I have the rest of my life for that stuff. Not so much to be seventeen with my friends.” She believes that things will work out the way they are supposed to and trusts that she will get to where she needs to be one way or another.
So, I’ve always wanted to do a typing for Brooke Davis, but I had already done one for Funky MBTI before I started my own blog. I reblogged it here because I didn’t want to plagiarize myself, but I just went to search for it and it had mysteriously vanished, so I’m re-reblogging it. I’m also adding her enneagram: 3w2 7w8 8w7 Sx/So
